Enabling the UFB

The UFB is a national fibre access network whose underlying design comprises 33 separate geographic islands, each with its own interconnect.

In order to connect to customers and facilities across a number of these isolated UFB islands, a retail service provider must however first tackle a number of sizeable challenges.

• Establish multiple remote handovers and backhaul links
• Negotiate commercial and legal agreements
• Develop service processes with each local fibre company

To link the isolated fibre islands and create a single consolidated national offering Kordia is investing in the rollout of an Ethernet Exchange network, enabling Kordia to front-end the UFB and offer RSPs a compelling one-stop shop experience.

Geoff Hunt, CEO, Kordia
