Facilitator

Ivan Rademeyer

Ivan achieved a Bachelors degree and an Honours degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, as well as a Masters degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Natal.

He started his career in 1980 in the Department of Post and Telecommunication in South Africa where he worked on several projects in the Buildings and Mechanical Section, doing mostly air conditioning plant design. In 1985 he joined the CSIR where he worked in the Turbo-machinery Section.

In 1994 Ivan launched Aeroflo, a joint venture company between the CSIR and the AEC where he used his knowledge of analytical and experimental fluid mechanics to lead a team of engineers in the development of air intake filters for helicopters. Under his leadership, Aeroflo was awarded the prestigious South African Technology Top 100 award.

In 2001, Ivan joined the University of Pretoria as a senior lecturer where he taught Fluid Machines and Aerodynamics to the final year mechanical engineering students and post-graduate Aircraft Design and Flight Mechanics.

In July of 2002 he started his own consulting engineering company where he completed several diverse projects for clients in South Africa, New Zealand and the USA. In 2005 he relocated his company, Da Vinci Innovations Ltd, to New Zealand where he is still focusing on product development and consultation projects
