• Break through the clutter of workplace communications technology by developing an understanding of public switched telephone networks, wireless networks, IP networks, 3G, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, Bluetooth, and other standard interfaces (and learn what all that Jargon and acronyms actually mean!)

• Gain an insight into the future of telecommunications by explaining the impact of technologies like LTE networks, cloud applications, Smart phones, and other multi-purpose devices

Are you familiar with telecommunications concepts and terminology?

Lean times; the need to improve productivity; a more mobile workforce; doing more with less, the common thread through all of these is how voice and data communications systems and technologies affect the way we work now and how we will work in the future.  Traditional notions of telecommunications are long gone; wireless networks, enhanced cellular services, 3G networks, fibre optics, the complexity of the technological choices facing the business world today is putting more and more pressure on businesses to have a good understanding of how these technologies work, their benefits and costs and plenty of Jargon to understand!

If you’re new to the field or just need a better understanding of telecommunications concepts and terminology, Telecommunications Explained for the Non-Technical Manager is the perfect course for you. The course has been specifically designed to provide you with a clear understanding of the Telecommunications industry, common equipment and technologies, all in a simple and easy to understand manner.  The course has been completely overhauled for 2010, to cover many of the new telecommunication technologies we have seen on the market recently, and will give you an insight into the shape of things to come.

For a comprehensive, authoritative and fast track introduction to telecommunications, you must attend Telecommunications Explained for the Non-Technical Manager.

6. Prepare your business for future growth by explaining the impact of new technologies like 3G, Wireless LANs and IP Telephony

The learning approach for this course is based on a collaborative learning approach.  Through a combination of lecture, discussion, breakout groups and exercises, the attendees will co-create, and validate knowledge of communication systems and technologies and their uses.  The course progresses from an introduction and definition of the fundamentals of telecommunications on  day one to a more detailed discussion on day two on how systems work together, current and future trends and their impacts on business.

Course participants will be introduced to voice and data communications through a series of short lecture segments, in-class readings and summaries presented by small groups.  Group activities will revolve around creating short in-class presentations on a particular aspect of communications, trends, effects on business, etc.  The overall objective of day one is to provide all participants with a good understanding of the basics that then can be built on in day 2

Day one will begin with a review and Q/A session then lead in to an activity designed to validate learning’s from the first day.  The second day will focus more on how we communicate today, the tools we use and how they affect how we do business.  The course will wrap up with a discussion on how current trends in communications will affect businesses in the years to come, and what they mean for your organisation.
