Increased Information Sharing through Inter-departmental Collaboration and Communication
Effective Asset Management Planning – both producing the three-yearly plan update and maintaining the planning processes - requires Communication and Co-operation between several departments.
Asset Management Planning is not “engineering” but is a multi-disciplinary role, so for those who are engineers by training, it is useful to recognise this and to concentrate on strengthening our non-engineering skills and communication with other departments of our organisation.
Training is available (e.g. “Accounting for Engineers”) which acknowledges the need to bridge the professional gaps. Other gaps are bridged by making an effort to understand what the other professions need from us, as well as what we need from them.
