The 6th edition lease is the first major redraft of the lease since 2006, other than tweaks to deal with the Property Law Act 2007, and the Unit Titles Act 2010. Contracting out not necessarily means terminating the employment relationship your business has had with its employees. As with any proposal that significantly affects the security of employment, employees have a right to consult at the “formative stage” of that proposal. All too often the employer is already in breach of the legal obligation to consult meaningfully by the time they even consult a lawyer about what they need to tell the affected employees.
