Dr Sebastian Gehricke is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the Otago Business School and is an integral part, as deputy director, of the Climate and Energy Finance Group (CEFGroup). Sebastian is engaged in many research projects in climate finance, sustainable investments, carbon farming and carbon and energy markets with a history of derivatives and mathematical finance research. He has financial consulting experience, particularly in project feasibility modelling and investment management, on a paid and pro-bono basis. In 2021, Sebastian developed the first Sustainable Investments course in New Zealand and holds several positions assisting the transition of the New Zealand financial system toward sustainability, as well as sharing his knowledge at community and industry events.
Global Infrastructure Facility (The World Bank)
Towfiqua Hoque is a member of the Management Unit of the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF), a G20 initiative, housed at the World Bank. Towfiqua is passionate about development finance and has worked over 25 years in advising on, structuring, and financing sustainable infrastructure projects in emerging markets, across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific Islands. Towfiqua has worked across the energy, ports, airports, roads, water and sanitation, and social infrastructure sectors, from policy, planning, structuring, public and private financing aspects. Towfiqua has been co-chairing the development of a Sustainable Infrastructure Label, under the Finance to Accelerate the Sustainable Transition (FAST) Infra initiative together with HSBC and Macquarie’s Green Investment Group. She is based in Singapore and holds an MBA from the George Washington University.

Climate Bonds Initiative
Haran is Climate Bonds’ Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand since 2018, and is also Senior Advisor to CBI’s Asia team. He is responsible for the management and development of CBI’s projects, activities and client relations in Australia and New Zealand. Haran has been with CBI since 2016 and, prior to his current role, he worked on a number of CBI projects across the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to CBI, Haran worked in banking and professional services for over 20 years. Haran was Director at BNP Paribas’ Fixed Income division in London, where he held senior origination and structuring roles to lead and execute investment and financing transactions across debt capital markets and structured finance. Haran started his career at PwC as a Chartered Accountant. He specialised in finance and treasury advisory as a senior manager at PwC and then a Director at Deloitte.
