Ethical behaviour by Chartered Accountants plays a vital role in ensuring public trust in financial reporting and business practices and in upholding the reputation of the accountancy profession.
All Chartered Accountants in New Zealand are required to complete four hours of structured training on ethics every five years. The first deadline for having completed this training is approaching. Key Learning Outcomes
- The revised Code of Ethics
- The five fundamental principles of ethics – integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care, confidentiality and professional behaviour
- Identifying threats to compliance with the fundamental principles
- Understanding safeguards that may eliminate threats to compliance with the fundamental principles, or reduce them to an acceptable level
The course will also include case studies demonstrating the application of the fundamental principles.
