IPSAS update for the Public Sector
IPSAS provides the opportunity for more efficient management of public finances. However there are a number of constraints when it comes to implementing IPSAS. For financial reporting periods beginning on or after 1 July 2014, public sector and public benefit entities have been required to apply the new suite of public sector financial reporting standards based on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). Effective management of this process, and the resulting challenges of adoption is required to ensure a smooth transition to the new financial reporting framework.
