Facilitator: Oil & Gas
Howard is a Chartered Engineer, member of the Instituteof Chemical Engineers, Registered Professional Engineer Queensland and a Fellow of Engineers Australia. Howard is a sought after speaker at major conferences and is renowned for his training courses.
He has worked on hydrocarbon installations all over the world, both on and offshore; from upstream conventional and unconventional oil and gas through midstream LNG to downstream petrochemical. He combines multi-disciplinary Performance Improvement with a strong commercial understanding of the hydrocarbon industries.
Howard began his career in the oil and gas industry in 1989 when he successfully completed a 1st class honours degree at Newcastle University in Chemical & Process Engineering, but not before quitting University after two years, fed up of mathematics and not enough practical experience, he worked as an operator with Dow Chemicals in Germany, before returning to finish the degree.
Work with Exxon Chemicals Olefins Inc. followed, specialising in plant optimisation, eventually moving on to hold further consultancy positions before starting his own company. In July 2006 Howard bought into Performance Improvements (PI), to provide engineering consultancy and engineering solutions to the international oil and gas industry.
Performance Improvements (PI) was acquired by AMEC Plc. Howard was asked to expand the business internationally by relocating to Australiaand opening a branch of PI down under. After this educational spell in an engineering contracts environment he has returned to consultancy to continue his pursuit of adding value to the Hydrocarbon industry.
